Magnum’s Sparta Jacket is a versatile piece of outwear that suits many different professions. From cold mornings to rain filled afternoons, I have put the Sparta Jacket through some of the worst fishing conditions we experience in the Pacific Northwest.
At first glance, the Magnum Sparta Jacket has a low-profile appearance. Minimum logo usage and a sleek overall design makes this well suited for law enforcement and other government type work. For my purpose of fishing, the clean look and technical insulated performance have given me the confidence I need to be successful during tournament competition. Never having to cut a day short has allowed maximum time on the water – a true testament as to how well the Sparta Jacket performs under the harshest conditions.
Tec-proof performance fabric delivers top notch waterproofing that does not stop working on the surface. This breathable material allows maximum moisture permeability, keeping your core dry to the bone. Surpassing my expectations, the Magnum Sparta Jacket blocks the elements and gives us as many options as an outer shell can offer.

For most consumers, we usually have to compromise quality for features or vice-versa. From my military experience and my construction background, I know how difficult it can be to shop for a jacket that entails quality materials, durable construction and the amount of pockets needed to protect your most valuable possessions. Here is where the Sparta Jacket shines: there are 10 usable pockets with (8) being on the exterior and (2) placed on the interior.
Durability issues have not surfaced during my 4-month wear test. The taped seams reinforce stressed areas of the jacket and the outer shell has even avoided tearing after blindly walking around my boat motor’s prop in the dark – a war wound waiting to happen. Altogether, Magnum paid very close attention to ensuring the Sparta Jacket would hold up to severe environments and the occasional accident waiting to happen.
Overall, the $170 price range gives you unprecedented protection and confidence no matter your situation. I can conceal and access my Smith & Wesson .357 with the sidearm zippers, add logos or patches to the available Velcro strips and most importantly, keep dry while performing recon on my local lakes and rivers. If you trek the outdoors, the Magnum Sparta Jacket will reinforce your every step of the way.
