IMG_0045The REVO Premier spinning reel by Abu Garcia defines performance. Solid, yet lightweight. A balance of power and finesse. So what makes this reel the perfect choice for a holiday gift for you or that angler in your life? Pure value.

The REVO Premier 20 is the perfect size for dropshotting, tubes, flukes and most freshwater techniques. The reel boasts the strength of an all metal construction with the lightweight properties of graphite. Weighing in at 6.9 ounces, this particular model can hold 110 yards of 6-pound test line, or much more if spooled with braid.

Casting performance was immediately noticeable over other reels such as Shimano and Quantum. I prefer this reel’s bail system over all other manufacturers. Drag performance, specifically with its sealed Carbon Matrix System was smooth as expected and feels just as new as when I opened the box. The key to its drag performance relies on smooth pressure.

Mainly used for the dropshot, tubes and flukes, the reel quickly became my “go-to” choice. I spooled up 20-pound braided main line and adjusted my fluorocarbon leader to the technique producing the most action. It caught plenty of smallmouth and largemouth bass this year and I look forward to an even better 2015 season.

For a holiday gift, Tackle Warehouse currently has it on sale. With this particular model being discontinued by Abu Garcia, this 20% discount is worth its weight in gold!

Do you no longer recommend the Salamander Sinkers for dropshot?
